Ghana’s 2-0 defeat against Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Sunday’s international friendly saw the Black Stars fail to register a single shot on target.

This unfortunate outcome marked their first loss under head coach Chris Hughton in six matches.

Despite having 54% possession, the four-time African champions managed only four attempts on goal, none of which found the target. Three of these attempts occurred in the second half as Ghana tried to mount a comeback.

The Black Stars had several promising opportunities to produce shots on target, but they often lacked the final touch in the box, exemplified by Joseph Paintsil’s cutback in the first half.

Following a goalless first half, Mexico seized the lead in the 57th minute when PSV forward Hirving Lozano capitalized on Ghana’s defensive disarray to score at the right post of Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

In the 72nd minute, the North Americans increased their advantage, with Dynamo Moscow’s Uriel Antuna converting a through ball that pierced Ghana’s defense.

Ghana’s next match is against the United States, scheduled for Wednesday dawn at 12:30 A.M. at the Geodis Park in Tennessee.
