In the second round of the CAF 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Burundi is set to host Gabon at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams are entering this match with victories in their previous qualifying fixtures and aim to continue their winning streak.

Match Preview:
Gabon secured a perfect start to their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 win against Kenya’s Harambee Stars at Stade de Franceville. Despite conceding an early goal, Patrice Neveu’s team turned the game around with goals from Denis Bouanga and Guelor Kanga.

Burundi, on the other hand, emerged victorious in a thrilling 3-2 encounter against Gambia’s Scorpions. Abedi Bigirimana, Frederic Nsabiyumva, and Abdallah Said contributed to Burundi’s win, placing them at the top of their World Cup qualifying group.

Team News:
Abedi Bigirimana, who has been in good form, is a key player to watch for Burundi. Abdallah Sudi, who scored as a substitute in the last match, may earn a starting spot.

For Gabon, the involvement of Junior Noubi is uncertain due to an injury scare in the previous game. Denis Bouanga, with goals in his last six matches, remains a notable threat.

Possible Starting Lineups:
Burundi: Nahimana; Kanakimana, Mukombozi, Nsabiyumva, Ndayishimiye; Mvuyekure, Nduwarugira, Ntibazonkiza, Bigirimana; Sudi

Gabon: Noubi; Obiang, Appindangoye, Ecuele Manga, Oyono; Biteghe, Kanga, Lemina; Bouanga, Allevinah, Babicka

Prediction:
Anticipating a low-scoring affair, with the last three meetings producing a total of four goals. Gabon is expected to secure a narrow 1-0 victory.
