Real Tamale United FC showcased a stellar performance, ending their four-match winless streak with a commanding 3-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Eric Owusu Afriyie emerged as the hero of the match, securing a hat trick that propelled RTU to success.
In an electrifying first half, Afriyie demonstrated his prowess by netting the opener for RTU just four minutes into the game. The striker continued to showcase his goal-scoring ability, doubling the team’s advantage in the 31st minute, putting RTU in a commanding position before halftime.
The momentum didn’t wane after the break, as Afriyie completed his hat trick with another goal in the 49th minute. Dreams FC attempted a comeback when Agyenim Boateng, coming off the bench, pulled one back for them in the 50th minute. However, RTU’s resilient defense ensured there was no chance of a full-fledged comeback.
Although Mankuyeli had an opportunity to make it 4-1 for RTU, his effort was thwarted by Aseako’s save. The victory elevated RTU to the 11th position on the league standings, drawing level with Dreams, who currently hold the 10th spot, both teams having amassed 14 points. The win marked a significant turnaround for RTU, providing a boost after their recent winless spell.
