The Eagles of Mali were in full control against Burkina Faso in the Round 16 of the 2013 AFCON in which they triumphed 2-1.
Mali was superior to South Africa in their opening game of the tournament as they won 2-0 against Bafana Bafana. In their games against Tunisia and Namibia, one could spot the telepathy in the team as they dominated these two teams as well.
Simply put, Mali has been marvellous in the ongoing AFCON with Lasina Sinayoko, skipper Hamari Traore, Amadou Haidara and Kamory Doumbia all putting up an incredible performance.
Legendary Malian midfielder, Seydou Keita, 44, has waxed lyrical about the current generation of Mali players and the marvellous football they are playing in Ivory Coast.
“With this quality of play, no team will be able to resist us. Let’s continue this momentum”, said Seidou Keita. The former Barcelona and Sevilla midfielder feels no team can stop Mali with the way they are playing. He urged the squad to keep the momentum gathered in the AFCON.
Mall will square off against Ivory Coast, the host, in a do-or-die West African derby on Saturday at 5 pm in Bouake at the Stade de la Paix.
