Ghanaian international Joseph Paintsil has attributed his goal-scoring performance in LA Galaxy’s clash with San Jose Earthquake to a premonition from his mother and sister.
The former Genk winger made a significant impact in his second competitive game for LA Galaxy, scoring a remarkable goal and providing an assist to secure victory for his new team.
Paintsil’s immediate success in the Major League Soccer (MLS) has established him as a fan favorite, with a goal and two assists in just two games since joining the club.
Reflecting on his maiden MLS goal, Paintsil revealed the source of his inspiration: “I’m really happy that I scored my first goal, especially in those colors – it really means a lot to me.”
Expressing gratitude to his family for their prediction, Paintsil emphasized the significance of their support in his achievement.
“My sister and my mom told me that I was going to score, so I should just keep the faith,” he added. “The moment that it happened I thought about them, so I just want to say a very big thank you.”
In addition to his goal, Paintsil highlighted the positive connection he shares with teammate Riqui Puig, a former Barcelona player, praising their chemistry on the field.
“Me playing alongside Riqui Puig is a great connection. As you can see, it’s like we’ve played [together] almost like a season before,” he remarked.
Paintsil’s move to the MLS in February marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career after departing KRC Genk in Belgium.
