Following their 3-2 loss to Accra Lions in the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League match week 21 clash, Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo admitted that his team was outmatched in terms of speed and performance.

Accra Lions took an early lead just eleven minutes into the game when Blessing Asumah Dankwa found the back of the net. Despite Asante Kotoko’s efforts to stage a comeback, Accra Lions maintained their composure and secured a crucial 3-2 victory over the Porcupine Warriors.

In a post-match interview with StarTimes, Ocloo acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat while also giving credit to Accra Lions for their strong performance. He emphasized that Accra Lions demonstrated superior endurance and agility on the field, a crucial aspect in modern football.

“Yes, like you rightly said, it is very, very disappointing. But congratulations to Accra Lions, they played well and they deserved to win,” he told StarTimes after the game.

“Accra Lions ran more than us; football now is about running and they did it better than us today and they got the game.”

Despite suffering their second consecutive defeat, Asante Kotoko remains in fourth place on the league standings with 32 points, trailing leaders Samartex by three points.

Meanwhile, Accra Lions’ triumph propelled them from 14th to 10th place on the table, accumulating 27 points from 20 matches.
