German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, have sent their congratulatory message to their technical team member Otto Addo and also wished him well following his appointment as the new Black Stars coach ahead of Ghana’s friendly game against Uganda and Nigeria later this month.

Scheduled for March 22 and 26, 2024 respectively, the four-time African champions are gearing up to face familiar foes the Super Eagles and the Cranes of Uganda in what promises to be an exciting matches.

Following the disappointing exit of the Black Stars from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghana FA has wasted no time in the quest for change, dismissing Chris Hughton and his technical staff and initiating the search for a suitable replacement.

On Friday 15th March, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association approved the decision of the five-member Black Stars Head Coach search committee to name Otto Addo as the next coach of Ghana.

This follows a long but decisive emergency meeting of the executive Council Council on Thursday, March 14,2024.

The Council was presented with the report of the search committee led by Vice President Mark Addo for further deliberations.

The GFA says, it has consequently, reached an agreement with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund for Otto Addo to be released to take up the job.

According to the GFA, Otto Addo will be allowed by Borussia Dortmund to join Ghana for the March international window, after which he will travel back to the club to officially hand over and take up the job permanently in May this year.

”Borussia Dortmund and talent coach Otto Addo will part ways in the summer as he embarks on his new role as coach for the Ghanaian national team. We wish him nothing but the best as he embraces this exciting new chapter in his career! Thank you for everything, Otto!” the club wrote on social media.
