“Otumfuo has been footing the bills of Kotoko since the IMC took over” – Emmanuel Dasoberi

Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, the administrative manager of Asante Kotoko, has unveiled the significant financial backing provided by the club’s patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, since the inception of the Interim Management Committee (IMC).

Following the dissolution of the previous board of directors and management, Otumfuo appointed the IMC, headed by Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, to oversee the affairs of the club.

According to Dasoberi, Otumfuo has been covering all expenses of the club, including debts accumulated under previous administrations, since the establishment of the IMC.

“Our owner, Otumfuo, has been exceptionally supportive. When I discussed the issue of debts with him, he assured us that he would settle every outstanding debt at the club. He promptly cleared debts owed to Seydou Zerbo, Mukwala, and Pouaty’s signing-on fees, as well as salary advances for the players. He has paid off everything. Currently, we don’t owe any player any salary,” Dasoberi disclosed.

He further elaborated, “As we speak, SSNIT is taking us to court. Upon hearing this, Otumfuo instructed us to calculate the outstanding amount and settle it. Throughout the tenure of the IMC, Otumfuo has been solely responsible for financing the club. He has committed to ensuring that players are paid by the 25th or 26th of each month.”

“Otumfuo covers expenses such as food, accommodation, fuel, and even provides meals for the players two days before every game. His support has been unwavering,” he added.

Despite the financial stability provided by Otumfuo, Asante Kotoko has struggled on the field, currently sitting in 8th place on the league table with 32 points and experiencing a winless streak since the commencement of the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
