Ghana’s Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, plans to play goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot in goal against Uganda today in a friendly. The match happens today at 4 pm in Grande de Stade Marrakech, Morocco.
Wollacot, who plays for Hibernian in Scotland, is one of the three goalkeepers in the team for the Uganda match. He missed the Nigeria clash, so Addo wants him to have a chance to showcase himself.
Addo hasn’t decided yet who will start as goalkeeper. He mentioned, “I am not quite sure yet. I left it open. I have to say that Ati-Zigi had a good match. I gave him the start because he is a regular player in his club.” He also praised Frederick, saying, “Frederick is new and young. I think he made a good first impression. He is very, very calm on the ball and has a good technique in the goal.”
Regarding Joseph Wollacott, Addo explained, “Joseph Wollacott at the moment is not playing in his club so it’s difficult to say that he will be the number one at the moment but I think tomorrow I will give him the chance to play and to show himself and we will keep on watching them and observing them and we will decide in June who will be the goalkeeper who will stand in the goal.”
Ghana has a strong record against Uganda, leading 7-3 in their head-to-head encounters. Addo’s team aims to maintain their dominance. Their last meeting in October 2017 during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers ended in a goalless draw.
