“If you give everything out on the pitch, Ghanaians will support you” – Inkoom advises Black Stars players

Former Ghanaian defender Samuel Inkoom has weighed in on how the Black Stars can reignite the passion and support of fans, which has seen a decline in recent years.

While the youth national teams and the Black Queens have garnered significant affection from fans, the same level of support has not been evident for the senior national team.

Inkoom pointed out the vibrant atmosphere at the Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Stadium during matches involving the youth teams, emphasizing the role of fan support in bolstering team performance.

According to Inkoom, the key to winning back the hearts of fans lies in the team’s performance on the pitch. He stressed that when the Black Stars start achieving success, fans will rally behind them once again.

Drawing from his own experiences, Inkoom highlighted the importance of players giving their all during matches, as it serves as a catalyst for fan enthusiasm and support.

“I want to use this opportunity to tell the national team and the players as well, if they give everything out on the pitch, Ghanaians will support them,” he added.

He urged the national team and its players to give their utmost effort on the field, assuring them that Ghanaian fans will stand by them through thick and thin.

“They can’t do it alone without Ghanaians. Let me give you an example, the Princesses in the final game, the U20. Look at the stadium, the atmosphere. They can’t do this without Ghanaians,” he told GH One TV.

Inkoom reminisced about the days when even training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium drew a full house, underscoring the immense potential for fan support when the team performs well.

“At the end of the day we have to motivate them. I remember in our time, even training at the Accra Sports Stadium and the stadium is full.”
