Former Al Ahly and Zamalek striker, Felix Aboagye has urged caution to Dreams FC following their goalless draw against Egyptian giants Zamalek SC in the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final in Cairo.

Despite their commendable performance at the packed Cairo International Stadium, where goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi’s brilliance was on display, Dreams FC must remain alert.

Aboagye warned against premature celebrations, pointing to a circulating video showing the team jubilating in the changing room after the first leg draw.

“I saw a viral video of Dreams FC players and technical team celebrating in their dressing room after their first leg draw against Zamalek. The task hasn’t ended yet for them to be celebrating without knowing how the second leg will go. Complacency could hinder their progress,” he cautioned in an interview with Nimdee FM.

Highlighting Egyptian teams’ prowess away from home in African competitions, Aboagye emphasized the challenges posed by Zamalek.

“In African competitions, mostly North African teams make it to the semi-finals and finals. This season, Dreams FC is the only West African side there, but let’s not forget that Zamalek are very strong travelers,” he explained.

Acknowledging Dreams FC’s achievements, he stressed the importance of staying focused and completing the task at hand, especially against adept traveling teams like Zamalek.

“Yes, we are all applauding them but the task isn’t yet ended, the task ahead should be finished which I think is very vital. Zamalek are very good travelers. All the Arabian clubs are tactically disciplined when playing away so I think they (Dreams) shouldn’t start jubilating but they should remain focus and finish the task ahead,” he ended.

With the crucial second leg approaching, Dreams FC, under Karim Zito’s leadership, will host Zamalek on Sunday, April 28, 2024, broadcast live on Max TV at 4 p.m.
