Reports from an East Anglian daily suggest that Greek side PAOK is in for a tough challenge to retain the services of Ghana international Baba Rahman, with interest mounting from newly promoted Ipswich Town and Brentford.
Rahman, a left-back, has been a standout performer for PAOK, featuring in 42 games across all competitions and establishing himself as one of the most prolific defenders in the Greek League.
Brentford, in particular, have been keen on Rahman, dispatching scouts to assess the 29-year-old during PAOK’s Europa Conference League encounter against Dinamo Zagreb.
This interest comes at a crucial time for Brentford, who have faced difficulties this season, notably losing Rico Henry to injury.
Although PAOK bowed out of the Conference League at the quarter-final stage, Rahman remains statistically the top-performing left-back in the competition, tallying 671 minutes of play, contributing one goal and one assist, and creating five goal-scoring opportunities for the Greek club.
Rahman, currently earning around €1 million annually on his existing three-year deal, could potentially double his wages with a return to the Premier League, where he previously featured for Chelsea, albeit disrupted by injuries.
