If you ever feel been unlucky in any aspect of life, just remember that Polish star striker Robert Lewandowski did not receive the 2020 Balon d’Or award he due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Robert Lewandowski, then of Bayern Munich would have won it easily had it been organised as he had an unbelievable season with the German club.

Under the guidance of German tactician who is rumoured to replace Thomas Tuchel, Hansi Flick who took over from Croatian manager Niko Kovac in November 2019, the Bavaria giants won a treble with Robert Lewandowski scoring an incredible 55 goals in all competitions.

Robert Lewandowski scored 34 goals in the German Bundesliga and 15 in the UCL.

The Pole won Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year and UEFA Men’s Player of the Year in 2020. The icing on the cake would have been the famous Balon d’Or trophy after the incredible season.

Per reports in Spain, Robert Lewandowski could receive his Ballon d ‘Or for the 2019-2020 season retrospectively after the organisers of the Balon d’Or are reportedly “reevaluating the possibility” of awarding it to him.

“If I receive the 2020 Ballon d’Or four years later, I would not feel offended. “It would be a great honour and I would accept the award,” said Lewandowski.

Justice will be done if the organisers of the Balon d’Or will indeed award Robert Lewandowski as the winner of the 2020 edition as he deserves it more than everyone.
