Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum was left to rue missed chances in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics on Sunday.
The decisive moment came in the 43rd minute when midfielder Raymond Grippman found the back of the net, securing three vital points for Olympics at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The match could have taken a different turn early on, as Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala missed a penalty for Kotoko, which proved costly in the end.
In a post-match interview, Ogum couldn’t hide his frustration with the team’s inability to find the back of the net.
“Our inability to connect the chances we had especially in the first half, we had so many chances that we could have scored including the penalty”
“In the first half, they left so many spaces behind them on the right side and the left side and we utilize them well but then it was all about the final ball into the net or the last but one pass to somebody score. I think they were in a haste and that actually made us a little bit tensed as the game unfolded especially when they scored, it brought some pressure on us because we had to come from behind but then i think it was all about our inability to score”
The defeat has left the Porcupine Warriors in 10th place in the league standings with 43 points. Looking ahead, Asante Kotoko aims to rebound strongly as they prepare to face RTU in Tamale, in the upcoming Matchday 33 showdown.
