The 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign officially came to a close on Sunday, June 16, with Samartex emerging as the champions of the season.

However, the day’s action was dominated by the relegation battle, as three teams – Great Olympics, Bofoakwa Tano, and Real Tamale United – suffered demotion to the Division One League.

The newly promoted teams from the Division One League, Young Apostles, Basake Holy Stars, and Vision FC, are expected to feature in the domestic topflight next season. Several teams were battling against relegation going into the final day games, including powerhouse Hearts of Oak.

The Phobians defeated Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday afternoon to maintain their status in the league. The rainbow boys came from behind to snatch an all-important 3-2 win over the Hunters to survive relegation.

The final standings saw Olympics finishing in 16th position with 44 points, whiles Bofoakwa Tano and RTU placed 17th and 18th positions respectively. The relegated teams will reflect on their performances, identify areas of improvement, and strive to make a quick return to the Ghanaian top-flight.
