Legon Cities FC have announced that they will be using the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon as their main venue for the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The stadium, which was renovated to meet international standards for hosting the African Games, has already played host to significant matches, including the Ghanaian FA Cup final last season and the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
In addition to the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon Cities have submitted the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu as their alternative venue. The club has opted for the University of Ghana Stadium over El Wak Stadium, which they used as their primary venue for the past two seasons.
This announcement is part of a larger process where all 18 Premier League clubs have submitted their proposed match venues and alternative venues in accordance with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing Regulations. The GFA will begin reviewing and inspecting the submitted venues immediately, with the possibility of approval, conditional approval, or rejection.
The GFA will soon announce the inspection schedule and the status of all submitted venues. Clubs, including Legon Cities, will be informed of any necessary adjustments in line with the GFA Stadium Regulations before the scheduled inspections, set to take place from August 8 to 21, 2024.
