FC Samartex’s CEO, Richard Nsenkyire, has appealed to President Akufo-Addo for financial support as the club prepares for the qualifiers of the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.
After winning the Ghana Premier League last season and overcoming Accra Lions, Samartex has earned the opportunity to compete in Africa’s top football competition. The team will face Victoria United of Cameroon in the preliminary round.
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Nsenkyire and other club officials visited the President’s office to seek crucial support. During the meeting, Nsenkyire highlighted the financial difficulties that African teams often encounter when competing internationally.
“We want to seek your blessing by showing you the cup. Over the years, we have realized that teams going to Africa often lack financial support,” Nsenkyire explained. “They could have performed better or advanced further, but finances are a major issue. We are appealing to you, Mr. President, as we represent Ghana, to support us so we can excel in the CAF Championship. That is why we are here.”
