“Every player in Ghana aspires to play for Hearts of Oak” – Raphael Amponsah

Hearts of Oak midfielder Raphael Amponsah believes that every footballer in Ghana dreams of playing for the Phobians, citing the club’s prestigious reputation as a major draw.

The 22-year-old midfielder explained that this esteem motivates opposing teams to elevate their performance when facing Hearts of Oak, making matches particularly challenging for the Accra-based club.

As Hearts of Oak prepares for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, after a tough previous campaign where they narrowly avoided relegation, Amponsah emphasized the difficulties of competing in the league.

“Playing in the Ghana Premier League is difficult. Every team brings its A-game when playing against Hearts of Oak. They put in extra effort because they are facing one of their toughest opponents in the league,” Amponsah stated.

He added, “There is no player in Ghana who would say they don’t want to play for Hearts of Oak. So, when they are playing against Hearts of Oak, whatever they do, they will do it with full commitment.”

Last season, Amponsah featured in nine games and scored one goal, contributing to Hearts of Oak’s efforts as they look to rebuild and compete for titles in the new season.
