Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, has cautioned his side ahead of their game against Niger in the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Despite being the favourites to win, Addo has warned that Niger should not be underestimated after Ghana’s surprise loss to Angola in their opener.
Ghana will look to return to winning ways when they take on Niger in their second Group F game later today. Addo is confident that his team will come out on top, but he is also aware that football can be unpredictable.
“This game, we are surely the favourites and I am very, very confident that we will win this game. But in football, anything can happen,” the 45-year-old said. “We saw it last time against Angola, the way the game looked. I never thought we would lose this game, but in football now there is no weak opponent.
“So we have to be focused, we have to be concentrated, we have to do our job. Then the probability that we win is very, very high,” he added.
The Ghana v Niger game will be staged at the Stade Municipal Berkane with kick-off scheduled at 16:00GMT. Addo’s warning serves as a reminder that complacency is a luxury Ghana cannot afford if they are to achieve their goals in the qualifiers.
