English-born Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo continued his impressive form in the 2024/25 Premier League season, scoring his third goal for AFC Bournemouth in a 3-1 home win against Southampton on Monday evening.

The match kicked off with Evanilson opening the scoring for the Cherries in the 17th minute, followed by Burkinabe international Dango Ouattara doubling the lead just fifteen minutes later. Semenyo extended Bournemouth’s advantage in the first half, skillfully evading multiple defenders before drilling a low shot into the left corner from the edge of the box.

In a post-match interview, Semenyo expressed his joy at finding the net again, explaining, “I just tried to create some space and shoot really. I got enough space, hit it hard and low, and it trickled in. I caught the defenders off guard with a chop, and I just wanted to create space for a shot. I did, and it went in.”

Currently sitting 11th in the league with eight points after six matches, AFC Bournemouth will face Leicester City this weekend. Semenyo’s contributions this season include three goals and one assist in six Premier League appearances.

As a key player for the Black Stars, Semenyo is expected to be included in coach Otto Addo’s squad for the upcoming double-header against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next week.
