Midfielder Samuel Tenadu is set to resume full training on Tuesday, and he could be in contention for selection when Asante Kotoko takes on FC Samartex this Sunday at the Len Clay Stadium.
The Porcupines are eager to return to Premier League action after a brief hiatus due to club engagements overseas.
Tenadu, who was expected to make his debut in the season opener against Young Apostles, had to withdraw from that match due to a foot injury sustained during warm-ups. Regarded by many as the ultimate screen shield in midfield, his absence was felt as the team navigated through the initial phase of the season.
The 20-year-old has been diligently rehabilitating, and his return is anticipated with excitement in his hometown of Obuasi. A successful debut would not only solidify his place in the team but also be a moment of pride for his supporters.
The Porcupines, under the guidance of head coach Prosper Ogum, currently sit with eleven points from their opening five matches and hold a game in hand. They are keen to reclaim the top spot in the league standings, and Tenadu’s return is a significant boost to their ambitions.
With a tight schedule ahead, including matches against Legon Cities away and Berekum Holy Stars, every player’s contribution will be crucial. After securing two consecutive home victories, Kotoko aims to make it a hat-trick against a tough FC Samartex side.
