KAS Eupen goalkeeper Abdul Nurudeen has made his long-awaited return to the Black Stars for the decisive 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

This marks Nurudeen’s first call-up since October 2023, as he missed the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year. His return is due to a strong resurgence at KAS Eupen, where he has regained his position as the starting goalkeeper. Over the past five matches, Nurudeen has been in impressive form, stabilizing the Belgian Challenge Pro League club and catching the eye of Ghana head coach Otto Addo.

With his experience and newfound confidence, Nurudeen is determined to make a significant impact as Ghana pushes for AFCON qualification. The Black Stars face high-stakes encounters, needing to win both matches—against Angola in Luanda on November 15 and Niger in Accra three days later. However, Ghana’s qualification will still depend on Sudan’s results, as the Black Stars must rely on Sudan losing their remaining matches to secure a spot in the 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Nurudeen’s recall comes at a crucial time, replacing goalkeeper Frederick Asare, who has been dropped after struggling with form, including a subpar performance for Asante Kotoko.
