Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku delivered a standout performance for Fenerbahçe SK on Sunday, playing a key role in their dominant 4-0 victory over Sivasspor in Round 12 of the Turkish Super Lig.

Djiku was called into action early in the match after Fenerbahçe’s starting center-back, Çağlar Söyüncü, was forced off due to injury just 12 minutes in. Stepping up to replace Söyüncü, Djiku quickly made an impact, stabilizing the defense and helping to keep Sivasspor at bay throughout the match.

Fenerbahçe took the lead in the 24th minute when Samed Akaydin scored to make it 1-0. The hosts extended their advantage in the second half with a clinical penalty from Dusan Tadic in the 54th minute. Their dominance continued as Sofyan Amrabat added a third goal in the 82nd minute, before Alex Saint-Maximin sealed the win with a goal in the 90th minute.

Djiku’s composure and solid defensive work were crucial in maintaining the clean sheet and ensuring Fenerbahçe’s comprehensive victory. His performance will undoubtedly boost his confidence ahead of his upcoming international duties with Ghana.

Djiku is set to travel to Ghana on Monday to join the national team for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger. This strong showing for Fenerbahçe is sure to serve as a confidence booster as he prepares for the crucial qualifiers.

With this victory, Fenerbahçe strengthens their position in the Super Lig, continuing their push for the league title.
