Ghanaian international Ernest Nuamah has promised more standout performances following his impressive display in Olympique Lyon’s 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League.
The Black Stars winger, who played 72 minutes, was instrumental as Lyon triumphed at the Groupama Stadium on Thursday night. Nuamah capped his performance with a goal, his first for the club, contributing significantly to Lyon’s success against the German side.
Reflecting on his achievement, Nuamah said, “I was out at the beginning of the season, then I came back into the squad. I’m so happy and proud to score my first goal, and hopefully more will follow.”
Lyon overcame an early setback after Ansgar Knauff gave Frankfurt the lead in the 18th minute. However, the home side equalized in the 27th minute through Rayan Cherki, setting the stage for an intense encounter that ended 1-1 at halftime.
The French side dominated early in the second half, scoring twice in quick succession. Malick Fofana put Lyon ahead in the 50th minute before Nuamah extended the lead four minutes later. Frankfurt fought back in the closing stages, with Omar Marmoush reducing the deficit in the 85th minute, but Lyon held their ground to seal the victory.
Nuamah, 21, has now recorded one goal and one assist in five Europa League appearances this season, showcasing his growing influence on the European stage.
