Renowned Ghanaian sports journalist Jerome Otchere has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to disclose the salary of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, emphasizing the need for financial transparency in the country’s football administration.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Otchere argued that since the salary of Ghana’s President is publicly known, the same standard should apply to the national team coach.
“If we know how much the President of Ghana earns, then we should know how much the Black Stars coach also earns. It must be public,” he stated.
His comments come amid growing concerns from football stakeholders regarding accountability within the GFA, particularly after Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Many have called for more openness in the management of the national team, including player selection processes, technical appointments, and financial dealings. Otchere’s remarks have reignited discussions about the GFA’s handling of contracts and remuneration for coaches and staff.
With the Black Stars set to resume their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign later this month, pressure continues to mount on the GFA to address transparency issues and improve the team’s fortunes.
