Ghana head coach Otto Addo has assured fans that the Black Stars are fully focused on securing victory against Madagascar on Monday to maintain their lead in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana’s emphatic 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday propelled them to the top of the group, reigniting their World Cup qualification hopes. However, they now face a tough challenge against second-placed Madagascar, who are also vying for a spot in the tournament.
Speaking after the Chad game, Addo emphasized the importance of staying at the top and vowed that his team would give everything to claim another crucial win.
“It’s always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there. We will do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep our position,” Addo stated.
The four-time African champions are determined to secure all three points in Morocco and strengthen their bid for a fifth World Cup appearance. The Black Stars are also eager to redeem themselves following their disappointing AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign, which saw them miss out on Africa’s premier football competition for the first time in two decades.
Ghana will travel to Morocco on Monday to face a resurgent Madagascar side in their final fixture of the March international window, knowing that a win would solidify their control of Group I and bring them closer to qualification.
