Former Ghanaian international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu is optimistic about the Black Stars’ chances of securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana strengthened their qualification hopes with two dominant victories in the latest round of qualifiers.

The Black Stars cruised to a 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium before defeating Madagascar 3-0 at the Al Hoceima Stadium in Morocco. These victories came in Matchday 5 and 6 of the qualifiers.

Speaking on TV3, Agyemang-Badu commended Jordan Ayew for his leadership and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to make it to the global tournament, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“He [Jordan Ayew] is very calm, but very calm. He has a strong mentality, and when you play with him, you will know the kind of guy he is,” he said.

He also highlighted the stability in the team’s leadership, believing it will help Ghana secure qualification.

“Now the issue of captaincy has also been sorted, and you have the likes of Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan there. Straight away we are going to America, the job is done,” he added.

Ghana currently leads Group I with 15 points and will face Chad and Mali in September for their Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures as they push towards World Cup qualification.
