Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has attributed his side’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Nations FC in Week 21 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League to last-minute uncertainties surrounding their match venue.
The game, held at Tuba Park, was decided by a thunderous strike from Nations FC captain Razak Simpson, sealing all three points for the visitors.
Leading up to the match, Hearts of Oak were unsure where they would host the game. Their usual options — the University of Ghana Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium — were both unavailable for use.
Ouattara believes this disrupted their focus and preparation.
“When you don’t know the venue you are playing at 24 hours before the game and you are not well prepared on the psychological side, this is the result,” he lamented after the loss.
The result marks Hearts of Oak’s third defeat in four matches, a run that has now pushed them down to sixth place on the league table.
