Burkina Faso’s national team has since March 2021 not been able to host CAF and FIFA-organized competitions at home.

Burkina Faso has predominantly been playing their home games in Morocco since CAF decided to ban them from playing at the famous Stade du Aout in Ouagadougou.

In the 2022 FIFA World Cup, 2023 AFCON, 2025 AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Burkina Faso was not allowed to host any of these games at home making things extremely difficult for them.

Pictures of the current state of the 4th August Stadium since Captain Traore, the head of state, decided to renovate it for the country to host their games are so sensational.

The Venue which hosted the 1998 AFCON finals, where Egypt defeated defending champions South Africa 2-0, is almost complete.

It is expected to meet FIFA and
CAF standards which will improve the country’s chances of taking huge advantage of their home games.

The Stallions had every opportunity to win the sole slot in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the expense of Algeria but, due to no home advantage, failed to enjoy success.

The 4th August Stadium will be opened in June 2025 per the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda. He confirmed that the Stallions of Burkina Faso will start playing at the newly refurbished 4th August Stadium in September 2025.

Changing rooms, VVIP lounges, offices, press conference room, weight room, lawn, tartan, official stands, infirmary, among many important things have all been confirmed to be ready.

The venue will also be used for domestic football competitions and other sporting activities like athletics.
