Ibrahim Ayew played a key role as Lincoln Red Imps FC secured their 29th Gibraltar Football League title with a 2-0 win over Manchester 62.
The seasoned Ghanaian was part of the starting lineup on a historic evening that saw Lincoln clinch their fifth straight league crown since 2019. Operating in midfield, Ayew demonstrated his usual discipline and leadership, anchoring the side with a composed performance under pressure.
His efforts contributed to yet another clean sheet for the Imps — their fifth in a row during the Championship Group phase — as the backline, which included Jesus Toscano and Bernardo Lopes, successfully shut down Manchester 62’s attacking threats.
Spanish forward Kike scored both goals to wrap up the victory, but it was the collective defensive effort, led by experienced figures like Ayew, that laid the foundation for the triumph.
This latest league title adds to Ayew’s decorated career, which includes stints in Egypt and Europe, as well as appearances for Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars. The midfielder has now made 29 appearances across all competitions for Lincoln this season, further cementing his importance to the club’s ongoing dominance.
