Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Mensah has expressed pride in his journey after playing a key role in helping Argeș Pitești gain promotion to Romania’s Superliga.
The 21-year-old, who joined Argeș Pitești on loan from CFR Cluj in January, overcame a slow start to become a vital figure in the club’s campaign. Initially struggling for minutes, Mensah found his rhythm late in the season and delivered when it mattered most.
His standout moment came during the promotion play-offs, where he scored twice across both legs against Steaua București, significantly boosting Argeș’s chances of a top-flight return.
Following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Csikszereda in the final promotion clash, Mensah opened up about his journey:
“My first trophy in Europe feels really special,” he said. “When I arrived, it was hard to break into the team, but I knew I had to keep pushing. I’m happy I scored when it mattered most.”
Mensah, a product of Ghana’s Young Apostles FC, credited the team’s togetherness and talent for their success.
“This team has quality and great spirit. I believe they can stay in the Superliga next season,” he added.
Despite the celebrations, the young attacker remains focused on the road ahead. Still under contract with CFR Cluj, he knows discussions about his future will follow.
“I’m still a Cluj player. Right now, I just want to enjoy this moment and keep working hard wherever I play next season,” he said.
From Ghana’s lower leagues to promotion glory in Romania, Mensah’s rise marks a promising chapter in his young career, with more to come as he continues his European journey.
