Newly-promoted Bundesliga side FC Köln have bolstered their attack ahead of the 2025/26 season by signing Ragnar Ache from FC Kaiserslautern. The 26-year-old striker, who has Ghanaian roots, has committed to a four-year contract with the club, running until June 30, 2029.

Ache joins Köln after an impressive season in the German second division, where he scored 18 goals and provided one assist in 32 appearances for Kaiserslautern. His consistent performances caught the attention of Köln, who pushed hard to secure his services before the summer transfer window opens.

In their official announcement, Köln highlighted the striker’s transition from rival to teammate:
“In the final game of the 2024-25 season, Ragnar Ache was celebrating on the opposite side. Now, he’ll be wearing our red and white jersey next season.”

Speaking to the club’s media team, Ache expressed his excitement about the move:
“When I got the call from Köln, my reaction was simple—amazing! I’m thrilled that the transfer went through and can’t wait to play at the RheinEnergieSTADION. During my last match with Kaiserslautern, I felt the electric atmosphere created by the Köln supporters. Now, I’m eager to experience it as one of their own and hope to celebrate in front of them regularly.”

FC Köln’s sporting director, Thomas Kessler, shared his satisfaction with the signing:
“From our first conversations, it was clear that Ragnar would be a great fit—not just in terms of his footballing qualities but also as a person. He’s a top striker with the kind of character that will integrate seamlessly into our squad. Filling this role was one of our top priorities, and we’re delighted to have made it happen.”

Although Ache has previously represented Germany at the U21 level, he remains eligible to play for Ghana’s senior national team due to his heritage.
