Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his disappointment after Ghana’s Black Stars failed to reach the final of the 2025 Unity Cup following a 2-1 loss to Nigeria on Wednesday night at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.
The Coventry City forward came off the bench to score Ghana’s only goal, cutting Nigeria’s two-goal lead in half, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Black Stars from falling short of the final.
“To be fair, on a personal note, I’m a little bit frustrated because I’m Jamaican as well, so I would have liked to do that one [play Jamaica in the final],” Thomas-Asante revealed.
With the Black Stars now set to face Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff, the striker stressed the importance of finishing strong.
“In terms of playing against Trinidad and Tobago, you know, we go out there, the same attitude as always, try and win the game and put things right, which is what we want to do,” he said.
The third-place match between Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
