Nigerian champions Bayelsa Queens will battle Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas in the final of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
This follows ASEC’s 4-1 win over Ghana’s Police Ladies in the semi-final, ending the Ghanaian side’s hopes of reaching the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Police Ladies’ coach, Yusif Basigi, admitted his tactical changes could not stop ASEC’s high intensity. His substitution of forward Victoria Williams Teye for Jane Ayiyam was a response to the Ivorians’ strength in both attack and defence.
Police Ladies will now play for third place, while Bayelsa Queens and ASEC Mimosas clash for the sole qualification ticket to Africa’s top women’s club competition.
