Ghana midfielder Richmond Lamptey has completed a move to Libyan outfit Al Ittihad Misurata SC, signing a one-year contract worth around US$50,000.
The former Asante Kotoko player departs Rwandan champions APR (Armée Patriotique Rwandaise) after just a single season. Lamptey, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, struggled to make an impact during his stint in Kigali, featuring in only eight league matches without registering a goal or assist.
APR confirmed his departure in a farewell message: “Thank you, Lamptey Richmond. We appreciate your time, effort, and commitment to APR FC. Best of luck on your next journey.”
Lamptey joined APR in June 2024 from Kotoko in a reported US$150,000 two-year deal but failed to replicate his form in Rwanda.
The 27-year-old midfielder is currently en route from Dar es Salaam to Kigali after APR’s participation in the Kagame Cup, before finalizing his switch to Libya.
