Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has condemned goalkeeper Mohammed Camara’s behaviour after receiving a red card during the club’s 1-0 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg in Accra.
Camara was sent off in the second half for handling the ball outside the penalty area while Kotoko was trailing. The goalkeeper’s visible push on the referee after the decision drew sharp criticism from the club hierarchy.
Duku described the reaction as “unsporting and unfortunate,” warning it could lead to further sanctions from CAF. He acknowledged the frustration players feel in high-pressure situations but stressed that such conduct must be avoided.
“You can understand his frustration playing in front of his die-hard fans, but we condemn it and hope it never happens again,” Duku added.
Kotoko will travel to Casablanca on Wednesday for the return leg, aiming to overturn the deficit without their first-choice goalkeeper.
