Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana made his long-awaited debut for Bologna in their emphatic 3–0 victory over Udinese in the Italian Serie A.
The 22-year-old, who joined Bologna on loan from Atalanta in the summer, finally featured after recovering from an injury that kept him out for two months. He came off the bench for the final 12 minutes, replacing Giovanni Fabbian.
Sulemana is expected to ease his way into the first team as he regains full fitness and rhythm.
The match, played at the Bluenergy Stadium, saw Bologna dominate the second half despite Riccardo Orsolini missing an early penalty. Orsolini redeemed himself by setting up Tomasso Pobega’s opener in the 54th minute, with Pobega adding a second goal six minutes later.
Former Juventus forward Federico Bernardeschi sealed the win deep into stoppage time.
Ibrahim Sulemana’s debut adds to the growing list of Ghanaian players making strides across Europe.
