Ghanaian youngster Edmund Baidoo scored for Red Bull Salzburg, but his side fell 3–2 to WSG Tirol in a surprising Austrian Bundesliga defeat on Sunday.
The 19-year-old started the Round 14 match at the Red Bull Arena and made an early impact. Salzburg went ahead in the 11th minute when Moussa Kounfolo Yeo finished off a good team move to give the hosts control.
Yeo was involved again later in the first half, this time turning creator. In the 37th minute, he set up Baidoo, who calmly placed the ball into the net to double Salzburg’s lead before halftime.
Baidoo, who has now scored four league goals this season, was replaced in the 61st minute by Clement Bischoff. Almost immediately after the change, Tirol pulled a goal back through Nikolai Baden Frederiksen, shifting the momentum of the match.
The visitors continued to push and equalised in the 74th minute when Jamie Lawrence scored to make it 2–2. Even after going down to 10 men in the 87th minute, Tirol kept fighting and were awarded a penalty in added time. Valentino Müller converted the spot-kick to complete a dramatic comeback and hand Salzburg a painful home defeat.
