Nigerien side Sahel FC have expressed strong interest in signing Asante Kotoko captain Ndongani Samba O’Neil ahead of the January transfer window, as the defender enters the final year of his contract with the Ghanaian giants.
Samba, who has been a standout performer since joining Kotoko in 2024 from Rahimo FC, has quickly risen to become an integral part of the Porcupine Warriors’ defensive setup. His commanding displays and consistency have drawn attention from several clubs, with Sahel FC now making formal enquiries about his availability.
With the Congolese international’s contract edging toward its expiration, Sahel FC—keen to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season—have identified the 25-year-old as a priority target.
In response to the growing interest, Kotoko have initiated talks to extend Samba’s contract beyond 2026, with reports indicating that both parties are close to reaching an agreement on a new deal.
Samba has featured in eight of Kotoko’s ten Ghana Premier League matches this season, contributing one goal. He also made four appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring once before Kotoko exited in the second preliminary round.
Since joining the club, Samba has accumulated 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist, cementing his status as one of Kotoko’s most reliable performers.
