Basake Holy Stars handed Asante Kotoko their first defeat of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season with a dramatic 2–1 victory in their outstanding match at the AAK II Park.
After a tense first half that ended goalless, Richmond Somiah opened the scoring for the home side in the 48th minute. Kotoko responded quickly, with Kwame Opoku finding the equaliser just four minutes later.
The match appeared destined for a draw until Prince Tweneboah struck a late winner in the 91st minute, sealing a memorable triumph for Holy Stars and ending Kotoko’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

The defeat leaves Kotoko in fourth place with 20 points, while Holy Stars, despite the win, remain in the relegation zone with nine points.
Kotoko will now shift focus to their next home game against Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium. Holy Stars also prepare for another tough encounter as they host Nations FC on Matchday 12.
