Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has called on the club to raise their standards if they are to reclaim the Ghana Premier League title this season.
The Porcupine Warriors missed out on the league last term but lifted the MTN FA Cup, and head coach Abdul Karim Zito has consistently emphasized the team’s ambition to return to the summit. However, Duku believes the squad must improve across all areas to make that goal a reality.
“I think the team must improve their game. If we want to win the league, what we’re showing now simply won’t be enough,” Duku told Akoma FM. “The entire squad needs to raise their level. One positive is that we are creating decent chances, but converting them has been a challenge, and that’s something we must fix. Improving our scoring ability is crucial.”
He added: “All departments of the team must step up, but scoring goals has to be a priority. Once we start converting chances, it shows that things are working well. I firmly believe that winning the league is still within our reach. We can still do it.”
Kotoko face a crucial test this weekend when they host Medeama SC in a Week 12 Ghana Premier League fixture. The Reds have recorded just one win in their last five games and will need a strong performance to keep their title hopes alive.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm on Sunday, November 30, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
