Asante Kotoko assistant head coach Prince Owusu has described the team’s current injury crisis as “hellish,” but remains confident the Porcupine Warriors will overcome their challenges.
He made the remarks during the post-match press conference following Kotoko’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Kotoko found themselves two goals down in the first half but mounted a spirited comeback, with captain Samba “O’Neil” Gilbani heading home a late equaliser in the 92nd minute to salvage a point.
Reflecting on the performance, Owusu said he was not disappointed with the result despite the difficult circumstances the team is facing.
“There are a lot of injuries, and with the transfer window opening soon, we hope to bring in reinforcements. But I’m not disappointed,” he stated.
He pointed out that the only painful defeat in recent weeks was the loss to Basake Holy Stars, noting that aside from that game, his players have shown strong commitment.
“The only game that hurt me was the defeat at Basake, but in the rest, the boys put in a very good performance.”
Owusu also revealed that the artificial surface in Basake contributed to their injury woes.
“The turf at Basake was artificial. We had to withdraw Joseph Ablorh after the warm-up to protect him. We are going through hell, but we will survive,” he added.
