Swedru All Blacks had to settle for a point after playing out a 1-1 draw with Karela United in their Ghana Premier League Week 16 fixture at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The home side entered the match determined to bounce back from their previous defeat to Bechem United and showed early intent, enjoying more of the ball and pushing Karela deep into their own half. Despite their dominance, clear chances were hard to come by as both teams battled for control in midfield.
Karela United stayed well organised at the back, frustrating the hosts and limiting them to speculative efforts, with the first half ending without a goal.
After the interval, Swedru All Blacks increased the tempo and finally found the breakthrough in the 64th minute. Ayikabia Solomon Anyork Nereba finished off a neat team move to put the Black Magicians in front and spark celebrations among the home supporters.
The advantage was short-lived, as Karela responded swiftly. Six minutes later, Malik Abubakar struck to level the score, registering his fourth goal of the campaign and restoring balance to the contest.
Both sides searched for a winner in the closing stages, with All Blacks pressing forward while Karela threatened on the counterattack. However, neither team could find the decisive goal, and the encounter ended honours even.
