Antoine Semenyo is currently the biggest name in the British football market. The English-born Ghanaian forward has shown many glimpses that he will be a great attacker in the near future.

Having already scored eight goals and provided three assists in the ongoing campaign, the 25-year-old is three goals and two assists away from equaling his best-ever season (24-25), having played 16 league games.

Blessed with pace, aggression, power, dribbling and shooting technique, the sky is the limit for the former Bristol City striker.

Teams in England are ready to splash the cash to win the signature of the talented forward.

Who are the teams chasing Semenyo?

Rio Ferdinand wrote on X that Manchester United should not let the forward leave Old Trafford, where he scored in the club’s entertaining 4-4 draw. The Red Devils are interested in Semenyo’s signature, with fans, pundits and former players calling for the club to sign him in the January transfer window.

Liverpool have lost Mo Salah to the 2025 AFCON. On Saturday, 20th December, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Reds triumphed 2-1 against Tottenham. The Swedish striker, Alex Isak, who is the most expensive footballer in the history of British football, scored his first Premier League goal but was injured by Spurs defender Micky Van de Ven. It is rumoured that Isak will miss the rest of the season, so they have to find a replacement. Liverpool has therefore identified Semenyo as a potential replacement for Isak.

It is believed that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Semenyo due to his ability to use both feet and also play across so many positions. Manchester City are internally discussing how it will lure the Ghanaian international and are now the frontrunner.

The Athletic’s football correspondent, David Ornstein, on Tuesday, 23rd December, in the afternoon, reported that Chelsea have made an initial enquiry about the availability of the Ghanaian. Chelsea had wanted to sign him in the 2026 summer transfer window, but withdrew their interest due to the price.

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Semenyo’s situation and would love to add him to their attack. Tottenham Hotspur’s rivals, Arsenal, are also interested in signing Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo’s release clause

According to Sky Sports, Antoine Semenyo will have a release clause of £65 million starting January 1. This consists of a fixed fee of £60 million and an additional £5 million in extras. The release clause will only be in effect for part of the transfer window, which will safeguard Bournemouth from a last-minute sale. If he remains, Semenyo’s release clause will decrease in the summer.

What should Semenyo do?

Antoine Semenyo and his entourage must make a decision that will help him continue his development. All the big clubs in England are chasing him and must choose a club where he will play week in and week out.

Who is likely to win the Semenyo battle

Sky Sports has reported that Manchester City are the frontrunners for the signature of the Ghanaian forward. Semenyo has chosen Manchester City as his preferred destination, per multiple reports, much to the disappointment of city rivals Manchester United.
