Kwesi Appiah, Interim Management Committee (IMC) member of Asante Kotoko, has expressed confidence that the Porcupine Warriors will improve as the second half of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season gets underway.
Despite a challenging start to the campaign, Kotoko finished the first half in second place with 30 points, suffering only two defeats in 16 matches. Appiah, who now also serves as Sudan’s head coach, believes the team’s form will pick up further in the coming weeks.
“I’m part of the IMC, and we thank God they’re also picking up. It won’t be easy, especially in the second round of the league, so I am hoping that we try to pick up,” Appiah told the club media.
Reflecting on previous seasons, he highlighted the adjustment period some players need when joining the team. “Last season, during the second round, some of the players had just come to the team and needed time, and that is one of the key problems we always have,” he said.
Appiah also called for patience from supporters as the squad continues to find its rhythm. “Sometimes, we don’t have patience, but I understand they’re now picking up slowly. I hope in the second round they’re able to play and everyone who supports Kotoko back home gets happy,” he added.
The club has strengthened its squad ahead of the restart with the signing of midfielder Prince Badu from Nations FC. Kotoko, unbeaten in their last three league matches, will travel to face Swedru All Blacks in the Matchday 17 clash at the Swedru Stadium this weekend.
