Otto Addo tried making Kudus the main captain of the Black Stars after Dede Ayew was deemed not good enough for the team again.
The decision by Otto Addo forced many Ghanaians to criticise the head coach for shunning the long-serving Jordan Ayew.
After much discussion, the younger brother of Dede Ayew was made the captain of the Black Stars.
He has since then led the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, even though he failed to lead the team to the 2025 AFCON.
Jordan’s eldest brother, Rahim Ayew, has expressed his delight in seeing his brother named the captain of Ghana.
“From the beginning, since he got the captainship, I was very proud of him. Because he deserves it. He was the oldest there and everything, so I was very proud, and I said finally it has come to the owner. it has to go the right way, and as soon as it has to go to the right person, he was there,” Rahim Ayew said in an interview with 3Sports.
Born in Marseille, France, Jordan Pierre Ayew is the son of the legendary Abedi Pele, and he’s the third of the Abedi family to captain the Black Stars.
The Leicester City skipper will lead Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup when the Back Stars face Panama, England and Croatia.
