Tyrese Asante, a Dutch-born Ghanaian promising defender scored when his side Maccabi Tel Aviv recorded a 3-1 victory against Hapoel Jerusalem in Round 17 of the Israeli Ligat Ha’al at the Teddy Malcha Stadium.
Asante started at right back and played the match, delivering a display that pleased fans. His goal arrived in the 71st minute when he stepped forward and fired a right footed strike from outside the box into the bottom corner following a pass from Elad Madmon.
Maccabi Tel Aviv took early control with Madmon opening the scoring in the third minute. Ido Shahar doubled the lead from the penalty spot before Hapoel Jerusalem pulled one back through Jidechukwu before the break.
The visitors stayed in control after the restart, dominating possession and limiting danger. Asante’s goal restored a two goal cushion and settled the contest. Hapoel Jerusalem’s task grew harder late on when Matan Hozez was sent off after VAR review.
Maccabi Tel Aviv will now shift attention to their next fixture against Bnei Sakhnin on January 10.
