Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on young winger Ryan McAidoo, highlighting the attacker’s hunger for the ball, creativity, and growing influence within the team.

Speaking about McAidoo’s performance, Guardiola noted the player’s constant desire to be involved in play and his effectiveness when facing goal.

“He’s the kind of player who always wants the ball,” Guardiola said. “When Ryan faces the goal, he’s so dangerous. He can go both inside and outside, he keeps the ball in different situations, and he always wants to create—especially with the way we play with the wide players.”

The Manchester City manager stressed the importance of integrating young talents early, allowing them to adapt to the demands and intensity of first-team football.

“We want these kinds of players. When you bring them in early and train them early, they adapt quicker to the intensity of the first team and can take the steps we want them to take,” he added.

Guardiola was particularly impressed with McAidoo’s maturity and work rate, pointing to his off-the-ball movement and defensive commitment.

“Ryan today was serious. It wasn’t just glimpses. The way he follows Erling all the time and chases—this is what we need.”

The City boss concluded by praising the joy McAidoo brings to the game, both for himself and the supporters.

“He gives me a smile when he gets the ball, and I think he gives the fans a smile too—and that’s special.”
