Swedish-born Ghanaian goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay has extended his loan spell with English National League South side Ebbsfleet United, parent club Watford have officially confirmed.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper, who joined The Fleet on loan during the summer of 2025, will now remain at the sixth-tier club until February 2, 2026.

The extension represents a further vote of confidence in the young goalkeeper, who continues to gain valuable senior experience in the English lower leagues.

Watford announced the loan extension via their official club website, revealing that this is the second time Macaulay’s temporary stay with Ebbsfleet has been prolonged.

He featured for the Kent-based side in their recent 2-0 FA Trophy defeat to Forest Green Rovers, underlining his growing importance to the team.

“Goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay has extended his loan with Ebbsfleet United for the second time. The 20-year-old will now stay with the National League South side until February 2,” Watford stated.

“Macaulay signed a new two-year contract with the Hornets in March, with the club also having an additional one-year option.”

The talented shot-stopper has previously enjoyed loan spells at Hemel Hempstead Town, Oxford City and Bedford Town.

A product of the Watford academy, Macaulay has steadily built his reputation through multiple loan spells, using each opportunity to develop his game and adapt to the demands of senior football.

At international level, the promising goalkeeper has represented both Sweden U18 and England U18 national youth teams.

However, due to his Ghanaian heritage, he remains eligible to play for Ghana at senior level.
