Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has underlined the importance of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden returning to their best form, insisting Manchester City’s ambitions this season and beyond depend heavily on the duo delivering at the highest level.
The City manager noted that both Haaland and Foden have played an intense number of matches, a situation he believes has affected their sharpness, but stressed that the club urgently needs them performing at full capacity to achieve its targets.
Guardiola also reserved special praise for Antoine Semenyo, highlighting the forward’s impressive impact since arriving. He described Semenyo as a player full of energy whose influence is clearly reflected in his numbers, adding that his consistency in front of goal has been outstanding.
According to the City boss, Semenyo’s goal showed high quality despite appearing simple, pointing to his excellent control and calm finish. He further noted that the forward created additional danger, including a well-worked chance following a precise pass from Marc Guehi and another effort that struck the crossbar.
Guardiola emphasized that attacking success is often measured by output, stating that players in forward positions are judged by goals and chances created. He concluded by reiterating that while contributions from others are valuable, City urgently require peak performances from both Haaland and Foden to drive the team forward.
